Goliath strikes back

Chaia began to labor in her breathing around 5:00 a.m. this morning.

Her CO2 levels are high which means she isn't sustaining as well as she needs to in her breathing.

The vent (R2D2) is turned back on. She is hooked up to CPAP to see if this will help her with breathing.

If it doesn't, we're looking at reintubation. (Insert heavy sighs and tears here.)

The potential positive is that the doctors are fairly certain it is not her heart that is causing the respiratory failure...so they think with some more time her breathing muscles could strengthen back up and she might be able to try again.

This part of the journey is called One step forward, three steps back.

This part is excruciatingly draining.

p.s. Update on Jack! He had his preliminary surgery and is doing well. October 31 is his major surgery on his brain. Please keep him and his family in your prayers.

Still praying for God's will in all of this! Also praying for comfort and strength for Ben and Shaina as well as those of us around the world that are lifting this family up. We have come to know and love you all. Without ceasing, still kneeling :)

Hebrews 12:1-3 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

Still praying for you all during this long journey. Tammy

Set backs are not easy but they do happen and we will still praise God for almost a complete day of Chaia breathing on her own. So now we speak peace of mind to you and Shaina and the family. God is still working in your midst. Praying right now for God to strengthen her lung muscles so she will be able to sustain her own breathing. We will not stop praying! Sending you our love to surround you!

I just read the blog after seeing requests for prayers posted all over facebook. Your family is amazing. You have one strong little girl. I have a son with Cystic Fibrosis and have also sat by his bedside on many of night when the doctors weren't sure what would happen next. I've seen miracles. Witnessed through my childs healing that the doctors (the first time at the cleveland clinic and second at rainbow babies) could clearly say was not of their hands. Without ceasing...

Goilath Shmoliath!

"But David said to the Philistine, ‘You come to me with sword and spear and javelin; but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This very day the Lord will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you down and cut off your head."

You're going down Goliath! Chaia, Ben and Shaina, I am praying my head off for you! May God grant you a moment's peace and a tiny smile from this post. You are in the midst of the darkest valley, but our God is with you.

I am sure you are tired of hearing one day at a time...good news that seems the respiratory problems are not related to her heart...all we need is a little prayer equalization....will focus on lungs as well as heart....its time for at least a field goal from David...Team Thompson is amazing!...prayer makes anything possible...come on David you got the ball and an awesome prayer line in front of you...You are all on our minds constantly
Much love and hope

I will pray this for you ALL today:
Isa. 40:31: but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

May God's blessings continue to pour ON you as they have poured FROM you!
