She's His

PSALM 16:11
You make known to me the path of LIFE;
you will fill me with JOY in your presence,
with eternal pleasures at your right hand.

This verse hangs in Chaia's nursery, has both her first and middle name in the verse. We love this little one so much but she is not ours.

She's the Lord's and it is and always has been His Work to do.

We need a miracle. And our God is more than able. I'm asking you to kneel. Not just think positive thoughts. Not feel sad or sentimental for us. I'm asking you to kneel before the Mighty God and cry out to Him.

Chaia is in some ways a rock star. The pediatric specialist at Cleveland Clinic and the adult coronary specialist as well have never seen anything like what Chaia is showing. They have consulted with doctors across the globe seeking to find out if any others have come across this.

We are essentially down to three possible routes medically. First, we aggressively give steroids to Chaia to see if it pumps up the weak, underdeveloped and apparently 'missing' vessels in and around her heart. If that happens then her body and heart may be able to support her body and begin recovery.

Route two is a heart transplant. As the doctor said this is not a cure, its essentially trading one disease for another. If the possible myocarditis is not remedied by steroids this is a possible second option.

Route three is God befuddling physicians for His glory. The physicians are already befuddled...but its not in awe of God. I'm ready to see this shift happen. I want grown men, believers and unbelievers alike to simply point to a God who heals.

I'm ok with God working in any of these three routes. So pray for His movement.

They've begun the high level dosage of steroids this evening. 3 days of this to see if route one will work.



She's His. And He's able.

Rough night.

Chaia did not do well off the ventilator. She regressed, was re-intubated and she is heavily sedated...again.

Shaina got to hold her for 5 minutes before they put her under. (First time since last Sunday.)

Akron Children's transported the little bean to the Cleveland Clinic.

As I type, Chaia is having a heart cath done.

This is very serious and Shaina and I are very weak...physically, emotionally and spiritually. We need you to hold our arms up in this so the battle is won.

Pray that perseverance would complete its work (James 1)

Pray for Shaina as she is taking this extremely hard.

Pray that we would give thanks even in this...even when we might not feel thankful.

Pray for healing.

Pray that we would be encouraged and supported. We are further from home and our church. If you fast, fast. If you intercede, intercede. If you have kiddos. Go hug em, hold em and pray with them.

Jesus is enough.

By no means are we out of the woods...but at least we've found a path.

Chaia was extubated this afternoon and is off heavy sedation. It is great to see her eyes for more than a glazed-stoned second.

Big blue eyes...almost crackin' a smile.

Still the cutest kid ever.
